The post I didn’t want to make

Often I find myself in situations which prompt me to make this mental note that says “BLOG ABOUT IT THE MOMENT YOU GET HOME!!!”  These situations include family events, fun parties, milestones in life, you know the deal.

Well I’ve reached one really important milestone in life recently, but I’ve been putting off blogging about it to the point that some blogreaders (a.k.a. mommy ha ha) were already asking why I haven’t posted anything about it yet.

By ‘“it,” I am of course referring to graduation.

YES EVERYONE, I am now a “bayani at marangal” (only public school students will understand). I am a graduate!!! YAY MEEEE! WOOT WOOT!

Wait, actually, I have to stress this: I am a UP graduate!!! I rocked a sablay!

I can wholeheartedly say that graduating was really fun! My family and relatives came so I got to share the joy of being able to finish college with them. I just probably wasn’t so enthusiastic because it took me an extra year to finish, and though I am really not one to make and cry about life plans, it would have been nice to march at 19 years old with my actual batchmates. Yeah, well.

Right now I can’t honestly say I have no more regrets. I still think I shouldn’t have taken up this course. I still don’t think the internship program is just. And I still think the last two years of my life were unnecessarily painful. But hey, if there’s one person who knows how to look at the bright side, it would be me! These past two years, I learned countless life lessons, and as my mom would like to put it, I enrolled myself in the “University of Life.” I learned that things will not always go my way, so I have to make things happen. I learned the values of patience, determination and perseverance (okay this is starting to sound like those reflection papers we used to do back in St. Paul ha ha). Also, I found out which people will sympathize with me despite my repetitive depressing texts. :) If I were to assess myself by comparing that girl on the 1st day of internship to who I am now, I’d definitely say that I graduated from the University of Life with flying honors. :)

So yeah, with this post I congratulate myself for having graduated! The way I see it, this is only the beginning! UP down, WORLD to go! I also want to salute all graduates! YAY US and CHEERS to a bright future ahead! BEAT UNEMPLOYMENT, MAKE AN APP AND EARN A BILLION! :)

Finally got to watch Nathan and the rest of UP Men’s Football Team play today! :) I wasn’t late weeeee!
We were soaking wet, though. It was raining so hard and we didn’t have umbrellas. The above photograph was taken when the skies cleared up at around half time.
They played against UST, the current leading team. The game ended with a draw. No more comments about the game but I’ll say this: UP will emerge as champions in the end. :)

Kick ‘em balls!

I’ve been trying to watch UAAP Men’s Football for 2 games now to show support to my friend, UP Team Captain (woohoo!) Nathan Octavio. “Trying” because in both occasions, I arrived to the sound of the whistle marking the end of the game. I shall work on coming early next time so I can at least watch Nathan and his teammates kick some balls. I’m tired of just watching them doing their post-game rituals - singing the UP anthem (complete with fist pumps), stretching, etc. ;)

For other students who want to watch the games, they have a match against La Salle on Thursday, 1pm at the Ateneo College Field. Then they’ll be facing UST on the 29th. :) They currently have 5 points. They scored 2 last Saturday against Ateneo. The two most recent games were held last Wednesday and today. Both ended with a draw, as they played against FEU and UE , respectively. IDK about the other games.

Support your teams in the UAAP, guys! :)
